Using Maths

In Killowen Primary School we see Numeracy as a key skill within school and a life skill to be utilised throughout every child’s ‘real-life’ experience. Numeracy means not only knowing about about number and number operations but also developing problem-solving skills, gathering, comparing and interpreting information as well as exploring shape, space and measures.

It is a natural tool that can be used across the curriculum where the children get to engage in a wide range of relevant and purposeful activities. These include playing, exploring and investigating, doing and observing, talking and listening, asking questions, reflecting, drafting, reading and recording both inside and outside the classroom.

Here are some photos of our recent Maths Week where our pupils from nursery to P7 were engaging in a wide variety of activities.
